Case Study: RyanDated: 06/11/2014

Ryan started at Palmersville Training in September 2012 and has made enormous progress. Ryan was referred to Palmersville Training through Connexions. He had been planning to go into the army but decided to do an apprenticeship instead.

Ryan's placement at a local painter and decorator firm in Whitley Bay helped Ryan to learn many new skills such as preparing surfaces, different painting techniques, how to hang lining paper, and the importance of health and safety on building sites. Ryan gradually gained confidence and improved his painting skills and techniques. As well as attending his placement and working to a high standard Ryan also attended Palmersville Training regularly to complete his practical theory work.

Ryan said "when I first started my apprenticeship I was anxious and had little confidence in myself. Learning painting techniques, basic construction skills and how to erect a platform has been really useful". Ryan has now obtained employment with Brickwork Services. His Key Worker Paul commented "Ryan has worked hard to complete his apprenticeship. He works well as part of a team and has supported other learners".
